An Eau-de-Vie is a brandy that can be made from a wide variety of fruit, except grapes. Among the most popular are Poire William (Pear), Framboise (Raspberry), Kirsch (Cherry), and Slivovitz (Central and Eastern European Plum Brandy). For brandy distilled from apples, see Calvados and Apple Brandy. Massenez's William Pear obtained the Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial des Spiritueux in Canada in June 2011 and 2012.
